End of an Era: Stephen Colbert Officially Announces the Final Episode of “The Late Show”
Stephen Colbert has officially confirmed the end of “The Late Show,” with the curtain set to fall for the final time on May 21, bringing an end to CBS’s iconic late-night franchise after more than three decades on the air. The longtime host shared the news during a taping of “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on Monday, finally putting a definitive date on a farewell that has loomed since last summer.

As a reminder, CBS and its parent company, Paramount Global, announced plans to cancel the show back in July, citing financial reasons. However, the decision raised eyebrows after Colbert publicly criticized Paramount for settling Donald Trump’s “60 Minutes” lawsuit, branding the move a “big fat bribe.” While “The Late Show” may be ending, Colbert has hinted that his television career is far from over — even joking about landing a new gig at VMHub, with plenty of receipts to back it up.
