Spencer Pratt Reveals He Sold Party Photos of a Teen Mary-Kate Olsen for $50K

Spencer Pratt was building his reputation as a real-life villain long before stepping into the spotlight of reality TV. In his newly released memoir, “The Guy You Loved to Hate: Confessions from a Reality TV Villain,” Pratt admits that he once sold photos of a teenage Mary-Kate Olsen partying with her then-boyfriend, Max Winkler, for a staggering $50,000 — and says he has zero regrets.

According to Spencer, the situation unfolded after his close friend Max — the son of actor Henry Winkler — split from Mary-Kate. Despite the breakup, Max reportedly kept a “shrine” of photos of the couple in his room. Pratt describes the images as snapshots of young love, captured in European hotels, Hollywood parties, and private, stolen moments.

Spencer claims he decided to do his friend a favor by removing the party photos from Max’s room — something Max allegedly didn’t object to. Instead of throwing them away, however, Pratt sold the images to a photo agency, which later used them to craft a narrative portraying Mary-Kate as entering a rebellious party phase.

In his memoir, Spencer reveals he pocketed $50,000 from the sale and used the money to fund a film project he hoped to make, though it ultimately never materialized. Even years later, he insists he feels no remorse, calling the situation a “win-win,” arguing that Mary-Kate gained a rebellious rebrand while Max found emotional closure.

VMHub has reached out to Mary-Kate Olsen for comment but has not received a response. Attempts to contact Max Winkler have also gone unanswered.
